A collaborative initiative bridging the significant data gap in informal communities through community-driven data collection and training, this project offers insights into scaling and networking the Do Something FFS Human Metrics Data Hub Model. It enhances access to decentralized networks, promotes disaster response and recovery opportunities, and empowers residents by collecting and sharing comprehensive socio-environmental risk data.

Human Metrics Data Hubs are integrated into infrastructure within a network of community-managed public systems, co-designed by project partners and residents to address diverse priorities, from risk mitigation to creating safe digital spaces. By collaborating with place-based community networks and organizations, we build and maintain these hubs, fostering community stewardship of vital infrastructure while enhancing resilience in rapidly growing tech and data science areas.

When established, these hubs will collect and disseminate data through wireless access points, LoRa sensors, and LEO infrastructure, connecting residents to the internet and establishing a broader network of data sensors for comprehensive data collection and dissemination. Through customised installation, networking, and governance training, community members will build technical skills and develop sustainability plans to maintain the network and control their data.
