DO SOMETHING FLOOD FIRE STORM – Community – Communication – Collaboration – Coordination
DO SOMETHING FFS is a not profit organisation (NFP) whose aim is to provide practical tools, systems, training and technology, to volunteer community groups involved in disaster response and recovery. Through technology and training we endeavour to encourage greater involvement within communities, with diverse community groups and support qualified collaboration between those groups and emergency management professionals.
Membership is open to all residents of Australia under the following Criteria:
The criteria to be on the board of directors is limited to those who have performed a frontline leadership role during a disaster event in either a community group, official emergency volunteer organisation (e.g. SES, RFS, VRA etc.), or international humanitarian or military mission with a focus on disaster assistance and recovery.
Our charter states that through evidence-based research in conjunction with emergency management stakeholders and community group collaboration, we will facilitate the development of practical systems and functional tools to optimise resources and enhance an ethical, legal and safety-first framework for positive community outcomes in a changing environment.
